Anyone looking to buy a script

From Dave Rutter:

"I have a rather large collection of scripts (short & full length film, TV & Web) that I have written over the last few years. I don't have the time to direct all of these and I'd rather see someone else direct them than the script go to waste.

I can also write a script for you if you'd like.

BEHIND THE HEDGEROW was originally slated for four days at Jane Pickens, but the run was extended in light of the full house at the August 10th world premiere at Providence’s Veterans Memorial Auditorium and Saturday’s sellout screening at Salve Regina University. Rhode Island feature film to have World Premiere at RIIFF

PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island - Sleather is a comedic adventure about friends, family and fame

Three friends -- wisecracking dreamer Linus, lovable schemer JB, and practical thinker Charlie -- are on a quest. The friends are determined to do what it takes, even the absurd, for Linus to become famous.  Their determination to revolt against another dead-end job will take them on a journey of discovering what it means to be true to themselves.  Sleather was shot entirely in the Ocean State, a labor of love for both cast and crew 7 years in the making.

Sleather is for all audiences.  “Sleather has been a long time coming.  At its heart it’s an hour and a half escape from your everyday life that allows you to sit down and laugh at the mishaps of these three friends,” says Director Anthony Ambrosino. “The Rhode Island Film Collaborative (RIFC) played an integral role in getting Sleather made. A great number of our crew came from people we met at RIFC networking meetings, RIFC projects we've worked on and events such as the 48 hour and Holiday Parties. The RIFC email blasts and affiliations with the film office and other local organizations were also tremendous assets to have on our side. However, the single greatest thing that the RIFC offered was the friendships we've made and the support we've gotten from everyone when we needed it most. I believe we can truly look at Sleather as an example of how the RIFC can benefit a production and what a community can accomplish when it comes together.”  Producer Nick Delmenico adds, “I hope Sleather is a reminder for people to enjoy their life, what they’re doing with it and who they are spending it with.”

Bring your kids or bring your grandma and get ready to laugh as you try to figure out, what exactly is Sleather anyway?  Sleather is premiering at the prestigious Rhode Island International Film Festival at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium on Saturday, August 14, at 7:00 p.m.  Tickets are available through the film festival website, film-festival.org.

______________________________________________________________________________

The film and video production company The 989 Project is responsible for Sleather.   This video collective of select art, media, design and business professionals who have come together with the purpose of realizing their distinct visions through collaboration in motion pictures was formally founded in January, 2010.

Now in its 14th year, FLICKERS:  The Rhode Island International Film Festival (riff) will

take place August 10-15, 2010.  In its brief life span, the Festival has become a leading juried competition showcase for international independent filmmakers and their work.

RIIFF is one of only 65 film festivals worldwide that is a qualifying festival for the ShortFilms category for the annual Academy Awards.  In 2009, RIIFF screened a total of

7 narrative features, 71 documentaries and 147 short films selected from over 3,400 submissions.

Crew Needed for new Horror Series Pilot in Rhode Island

Hello, my name is Richard Morrow, and I am very interested in joining your
group. Here is in a nutshell what I am trying to accomplish.

This is going to be a new horror series pilot will be shot entirely in Rhode
Island. There will only be three locations for this shoot. A bar atmosphere, a
motel room and a desolate road. This pilot when finished will have resources to
be pitched to major cable networks for consideration through reliable contacts.
The first step of this process is the Director which will be myself as well as I
am seeking Assistant Directors to come aboard!!!!!! This series has NOT been
done before and it will take extreme creative minds to make this work. I am
completely open to new and exciting ideas to make this production a success. It
is a 28 page script and it is a HORROR series THAT WILL WORK!!!!!. The following
crew will be needed in order to start the process.

*An HD camera so I don't have to rent one*
1. A lighting crew.
2. A makeup and special effects crew (preferably with experience with vampires
and werewolves)

3. A Post Production crew
4. Assistant Camera Crew
5. Sound
6. etc.

Once these positions, or partial improvational postions are filled, we will have
a reserved casting call in downtown Providence for the casting call which is
arranged.

PLEASE NOTE: This WILL get you credits only on this but it will be a very QUICK
SHOOT if all goes well and will be WELL WORTH YOUR TIME as we will promote this
into a possible series that can go huge into the film industry if we all
impliment our ideas to make this happen. I am pushing to pitch this to HBO or
SHOWTIME through reliable contacts and I am VERY optimistic and VERY excited
about this project and hope we can as a TEAM make this happen!!!! Take a chance
on me as I will go all the way for you!!!!

Sincerely,

Richard C. Morrow
Director

Networking Notes; Stuff for new space

Here are notes from July's networking meeting - a lot of it revolved around the 48 Hour Film Project. Special thanks to Debbie "boots" Condit for taking these notes!

Remember the next meeting is on Tuesday, August 10th, 7pm at the Wild Colonial, 250 South Water Street, Providence, RI

RIFC NETWORKING NOTES JULY 2010

After Mark Fogarty announced how the Networking Meeting works and about all the monthly RIFC meetings and events, Jay Walker gave a very thorough explanation of how the 48 Hour Film Project works, from signing up teams locally in the beginning to the final International competition.  The Providence winning team gets a small cash stipend, trophy, script-writing software and represents our city in the International competition. All other winning teams get a small cash stipend and trophy. Jay had posters available for volunteers to post.

Dana Neugent, who made the fishing industry documentary, “Truth: Fishing Crisis or Government  Mismanagement” that will be premiering at the RIIFF said that there would be a free fish dinner for those who attended the showing on Aug. 15. More information can be found at www.filmfestival.org.

Congratulations went out to the RIFC affiliated feature film, Sleather, which will also be shown at the 2010 Rhode Island International Film Festival. Anthony and Erica of The 989 Project are always looking for volunteers to help with marketing ideas, as well as looking for crew for their shorts, industrials, etc. Anthony said they are also looking for PA’s and to give him a resume. Some jobs are paid positions.

Jay Walker is looking for people with equipment in September to do some short films that he’s working on. He’s also looking for writers to adapt a theatre script into screenplay. He can be contacted at filmtv@jaywalkeronline.com.

Todd LeCompte, Officer Liaison, said the RIFC is adding to their Communications Team and to let him know if anyone is interested. Todd, also of TSL Productions, said they have many non-union casting calls and projects coming up. They are also interested in working with high school students, and it’s a great way to get experience.

Anthony Ambrosino announced that Kay Studios is looking for some people to do editing for a concert video. No pay involved, but you get to work with J Giles footage.

New RIFC Space

Now that the RIFC is developing space, we're looking for two things:

  • If you have film-related or display related equipment you'd like to donate to a non-profit, we now have a place to put it! No pressure, I'm just saying...
  • We would like to start to decorate the space in a spirit of local film. If you have props, posters, etc from a local production, we'd like to showcase it. Get in touch with us at this email address. And Joey Pants, if you're listening, we'd still love a pair of your pants to hang on the wall!

BEHIND THE HEDGEROW is the second title from Eagle Peak Media, www.EaglePeakMedia.com, the production company founded in 2008 by writer/producer G. Wayne Miller and director David Bettencourt. George T. Marshall, RIIFF Executive Director, is the executive producer of BEHIND THE HEDGEROW.

Then, the long-awaited premiere of Sleather is on Saturday, August 14th.

Sleather is a comedic adventure about friends, family and fame  Three friends -- wisecracking dreamer Linus, lovable schemer JB, and practical thinker Charlie -- are on a quest. The friends are determined to do whatever it takes, however absurd, to help Linus become famous.

Producer Nick Delmenico adds, “I hope Sleather is a reminder for people to enjoy their life, what they’re doing with it and who they are spending it with.”

Bring your kids or bring your grandma and get ready to laugh as you try to figure out, “What exactly is Sleather, anyway?”  Sleather is premiering at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium on Saturday, August 14, at 7:00 p.m.

The film and video production company The 989 Project is responsible for Sleather. For more information on the film visit, www.sleathermovie.com

Networking Tuesday; Mary D; RIFC New Location

Networking Meeting

The August RIFC Networking Meeting will be on Tuesday, August 10th, 7pm at the Wild Colonial, 250 South Water Street, Providence, RI.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Mary DeBerry Retires

Mary DeBerry, long-time driver of the RIFC Communications Team, and author of hundreds of emails you may have received over the last several years, is retiring from her position as hub of all filmic communications.

The help and work Mary’s done over the years for the Rhode Island Film Collaborative has been tremendous, and it’s no exaggeration to say that many of our undertakings would simply not have been possible without her support and energy.

Mary is not stepping away from us entirely – you’ll still see her at meetings, events etc. And with luck, we’ll continue to benefit from some of her wisdom and advice.

So we wanted to take a moment to express our appreciation by sending a big shout out to Mary.

Naturally, we can also use help with our newsletter blasts. They’re big shoes to fill, but if coordinating, writing and editing are something you’d like to take part in for a while, shoot us an email!

New Space for the RIFC

The RI Film Collaborative is pleased to announce that we finally have a regular physical location. Our new space is located at 172 Exchange St. in Pawtucket, RI – right in the Pawtucket Armory, and right next to the Gamm Theatre.

The Armory is dedicating itself to becoming a center for the arts and arts education. It looks like a castle from the outside, and has wonderful shared spaces to explore, left over from its days both as an armory, and later as a school.

We’re on the third-floor, but there’s an elevator, clear (if labyrinthine) signage, and it’s ADA compliant.

We’ll be using the space in coming months to host groups, small screenings, meetings and classes that have, to date, been spread randomly across the state. We look forward to seeing you there some day soon!

Turning to Tarantino for Divine Providence
By Richard Horgan
FilmStew.com

There are two reasons why writer-director Anthony Ambrosino chose to make Quentin Tarantino a key part of the narrative of his feature debut Sleather, set to world premiere on August 14th in his hometown state at the Rhode Island International Film Festival in Providence. One was the undisputed indie film poster boy qualities of QT's meteoric rise from video store clerk to two-time simultaneous writer and director Oscar nominee. The other was more personal.
