E-mail: timothy.mendonca@film-festival.org

Attention Student Film Buffs! The Rhode Island International Film Festival, as part of this years festival marks the beginning of an exciting new program; not only for us, but for the entire state of Rhode Island and its communities.

This year, we are very pleased to announce that we are launching a new Student Film Jury program. This new program will offer local high school students the unique opportunity to participate directly in an internationally recognized, film festival, as well as aid in the festival’s long-standing commitment to community outreach and
education.

The student jury will be made up of a selected group of Rhode Island high school students who are entering their junior or senior year; though students who have graduated this year are also encouraged to apply. Accepted applicants will become student jurors in the only OSCAR qualifying film festival in New England. The
students will screen a selection of films (narrative, documentary, shorts), deliberate, and present the Student Jury Award, at the festival’s award ceremony. Students will also have the opportunity to meet with the various filmmakers, actors, and industry professionals from around the world, as well.

This program offers a terrific opportunity for high school students. It will not only make a great addition on the student's resumes and college applications, but it will also expose students to the very large entertainment industry, where they will have the chance to network and make contacts for their future.

The program will be accepting applications through July 19th, 2010. All applications will then be immediately reviewed and acceptance notifications will go out. The application and additional information will soon be up on our website. Though anyone interested is encourage to e-mail us now. This years festival runs August 10th - 15th.

We are truly excited to be launching not only the next generation of filmmakers, but also the next generation of film enthusiasts.

For information on how to apply please e-mail: Student Jury Coordinator, Tim Mendonca

NEW TV SERIES TO FILM ENTIRELY IN RI

The Rhode Island Film & TV Office is pleased to announce that a new television series, BODY OF PROOF (formerly BODY OF EVIDENCE), has been picked up for ABC’s fall primetime schedule and will start filming episodes for its first season throughout the Ocean State in July 2010. Pre-production will commence immediately in the Warwick offices. The ABC Studios original television pilot was filmed in Rhode Island earlier this year.

BODY OF PROOF is a procedural drama that centers on a brilliant and tenacious female medical examiner whose background as a neurosurgeon gives her a unique and refreshing crime-solving perspective at the ME’s office, one that often puts her at odds with just about everyone who crosses her path.

Dana Delany stars as Dr. Megan Hunt, Jeri Ryan as Dr. Kate Murphy, Geoffrey Arend as Dr. Elliot Gross, John Carroll Lynch as Detective Bud Morris, Windell Middlebrooks as Dr. Curtis Brumfield, Nic Bishop as Peter Dunlap and Sonja Sohn as Detective Samantha Baker. Christopher Murphey wrote the pilot, which was directed by Nelson McCormick. Murphey will serve as Executive Producer along with Matt Gross. Richard Heus is co-Executive producer.

Steven Feinberg, Executive Director of the Film & TV Office said, "We are extremely proud to announce this great news. ABC Studios has chosen our beautiful state as the base of operations to film their new network television series, which will premiere on Friday nights at 9PM. As a result, more jobs will be immediately available to our local crew and talent pool. The production will quickly feed new money into our state’s small businesses and help pump up Rhode Island’s economy. This is further proof that our Ocean State has the heart, resources and foresight to compete in even the most challenging of climates…and win."
