FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BURIED, the feature film written by Rhode Island native Chris Sparling and starring actor Ryan Reynolds (THE PROPOSAL, X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE), will be released in Rhode Island theaters this Friday, October 15th.

BURIED tells the story of Paul Conroy (Reynolds), a civilian truck driver who is taken hostage in Iraq, buried alive, and left to coordinate his own ransom. The film, a suspense thriller, works as both a nail-biting exercise in claustrophobia and a chilling allegory for bureaucratic indifference. Remarkably, all 90-plus minutes of the film's running time takes place within the confines of the coffin-like box in which Paul is buried.

"A brilliantly twisted suspense thriller that would have made Alfred Hitchcock proud." -- Access Hollywood

" Rodrigo Cortes and writer Chris Sparling are ingenious in creating more plausible action than you would expect possible. 3 1/2 out of 4 stars." -- Roger Ebert

"Crazy-good thriller!" -- USA Today

"Claustrophobic, suspenseful, and just plain AWESOME!" -- Ain't It Cool News

"Mesmerizing" -- Jeffrey Lyons

BURIED is currently playing nationwide and in theaters around the world. Don't miss your chance to see the film during its Rhode Island opening this weekend!!

Author Talk and Book Signing Event

Christie O’Neil Harrison will be reading from and discussing her book Dear Tommy on Thursday, October 21, 2010 at 6 pm at Symposium Books at 240 Westminster Street in downtown Providence, RI.

Tommy O'Neil had just celebrated his 22nd birthday when a tragic work-related accident took his life and turned his family's world upside-down. His older sister turned to her journal for solace and immediately penned her first of many poems to him in one of his eulogies. Over the days, weeks, months and years that followed his death, she kept her special "Dear Tommy" book close to her as a way to maintain her relationship with her younger brother, even though he would never be able to write back.

After September 11, 2001, when global events irrevocably changed so many thousands of lives, Christie made the decision to publish her book. In empathy for the survivors left to deal with the sudden deaths of so many loved ones, she wanted to share with the world how she had coped on a day-to-day basis with the hole left in her life when her brother was suddenly taken away.

About the Author:

Christie O'Neil Harrison is an author, actress, poet and singer/songwriter who lives in Pawtucket, RI. She is the founder and CEO of Sunny Productions, a Professional Documentation Services company. She has more than a decade of experience in the publishing, editing and writing industries. She is a member of the Rhode Island Film Collaborative and has acted in a few locally filmed independent films, including “Scarlet Fever” and “Dead Giveaway.”

She is working on her next two books, one another memoir, and one a collection of her poetry.

Please join us in welcoming Michelle and offering her our help and support as she helps us all take the Film Collaborative to the next level in supporting independent film and independent filmmakers!

LUCKEY: A Documentary Screening and Q&A

PROVIDENCE, RI - Providence Children’s Museum presents two screenings of the provocative documentary film “LUCKEY” at Cable Car Cinema (204 South Main Street in Providence) on Wednesday, October 6, 6:30 and 8:45 PM. Tickets are $7.50; adult audience.

The film shares the story of Tom and Spencer Luckey, the father/son team of nationally acclaimed artists and architects from New Haven, CT who designed the vibrant new outdoor climbing sculpture that opened at Providence Children’s Museum this summer. Following both showings, audiences will meet Spencer Luckey during a Q&A.

Enabling sculptor Tom Luckey's artistic vision after his devastating fall through a window at age 65 is a difficult proposition for his divided family. The Luckeys must cross delicate lines drawn long ago by divorce and remarriage while supporting Tom, fully paralyzed but with wacky personality intact, as he pursues building his biggest, most complicated sculpture yet at Boston Children’s Museum.

Tom enlists the help of his son Spencer to build the sculpture and, as they try to forge a working relationship from a complex father-son relationship, both push for their own vision. Their rivalry is creative – they argue over art, design, and execution – but they are also reeling emotionally because of Tom’s accident. Meanwhile, Tom also struggles to re-spark his romantic life with his wife Ettie as she and Spencer share the role of primary caretakers.

“LUCKEY” is an honest, transparent look at the dynamics of a family in crisis and a powerful portrait of an eccentric artist trying to create a new life in the wake of a devastating accident. To learn about the award-winning documentary and see a trailer, visit www.luckeythefilm.com.
