"Shock Watch"

My 5 minute short "Shock Watch" is now 'On The Lot'. It is a comedy at heart, filmed with only myself and one friend, written and filmed in a day. Its about a guy giving his friend a seemingly useful housewarming gift, and the craziness that ensues. Please watch it, rate it, comment it, show support for local film makers, and help Rhode Island be represented in the contest! Thanks so much! http://films.thelot.com/films/15316Nathan A. SERIES PILOT FILMING THIS WEEKEND

This announcement comes to us from Bob Cooper prguynow@yahoo.com 401-447-6474
Movie looking for 'Extras' (Providence, Rhode Island, USA) The proposed HBO reality series 'Inside Providence' is looking for 'extras' and will be filming this weekend at Club Prov this Friday Night and Club Jewel on Saturday.

"H. P. Lovecraft Meets E. A. Poe"

From Carl JohnsonProgram: A series of dramatic recitations of select excerpts from the prose and poetry of both H. P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allan Poe, presented in entertaining fashion by successive readers.Date: Sunday, April 1, 2007Time: Commencing at 3 p.m.Location: Front ground of historic Ladd Observatory (built and opened in1891), 210 Doyle Avenue at the corner of Doyle Avenue and Hope Street,Porvidence, Rhode Island.Admission: This event will be open to free public attendance.Adverse Weather Contingency: Should we experience sustained rain or snow on that date, the event will not be postponed; rather we will move the presentation to inside the building. Fog, drizzle or light rainfall will not drive us inside, since a somewhat gloomy atmosphere might provide an added touch to the ambiance!Following proceedings at the Observatory, we will drive to Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Boulevard; those who wish may briefly pay their respects at the Phillips family plot where H. P. Lovecraft is interred. Then all will be invited to join us at nearby India restaurant. It has been noted that something out of the ordinary...even for this eldritch affair...almost always seems to occur at these Tribute Services, often involving a dramatic and unanticipated change in weather conditions. During the presentation of March 16, 1998, an unanticipated burst of snow flurries fell while a dirge was sung by a pretty young lady clad in a black velvet cloak. Misty distortions have shown up in photographs taken during the service, and murders of crows have lighted in nearby trees, screeching their apparent discontent uncannily on cue with the readings of Lovecraft's writings. If this wasn't sufficient, a seemingly disembodied "voice" once was detected in the playback of an audio recording made at Lovecraft's final resting (or, perhaps in his case, "resisting") place. Although he prided himself on his implacable sense of the rational, relying on scientific observation to interpret the world around him and disavowing any belief in things supernatural, maybe Mr. Lovecraft was endeavoring to make his presence known to the gathering. But that is mere speculation, and of a decidedly unscientific nature! Carl L. JohnsonAdvisor to the "H. P. Lovecraft Commemorative Activites Committee"(401) 732-4870constablecj@hotmail.com

We're doing lots of late 19th Century reenactments at the end of the month in Easton and Jim Thorpe, PA. I wondered if you could help us spread the word.

Announcing a film & video competition

you can enter without getting out of your pajamas.
This info comes to us from Mick Hoegen - thanks Mick!
What’s the greatest frustration facing talented independent filmmakers today? Most would agree that it’s trying to stand out from a vast ocean of contenders and industry games and politics in order to get their films in front of an appreciative audience. The Internet once promised a democratic forum where the quality needed only to reveal itself and the deals would flow. Somehow things didn’t quite work out that way.
Until now.
Introducing OurStage – where the fans decide who rocks
OurStage is a brand new, 100% democratic means for emerging filmmakers and videographers to get their work out there, in front of those who matter most – the fans and industry groundbreakers. Artists upload their work at OurStage, where thousands of film-savvy fans and fanatics can view submissions and then vote on their favorite. Competition is open to pretty much all film categories ten minutes or less – animation, shorts, drama, comedy, action sports, my pet cockroach, etc.
Monthly winners take home $5,000
But here’s the true brilliance of OurStage: those who don’t win but still earn high ranking receive enormous exposure, the kind that launches careers. Because you never know who’s watching.
I urge you to post your best work now at www.ourstage.com/go/imagine
See you online,
the team backstage
P.S. OurStage will offer top ranking filmmakers and videographers various perks and awards from partners such as Gen Art, Paste Magazine, Independent Film Festival of Boston, Asbury Shorts, Film Threat, SceneFirst, Noise Pop, and heaps more – on top of the monthly five grand. So hesitate not, upload your best stuff now.
Good luck, and my best to you

Next Actor's Lab Tuesday, 3-20 at McFaddens - details from TJ:
Hello Actors,
Our apologies for the mix-up at the March 6 meeting. I will make sure that does not happen again by calling the day before our meeting to confirm that the room is secured for us.
The RI Film panel last night at Borders' was a great success, and we have at least one new member. Let's give a big welcome to Jacqueline Marie Middler!
Our next meeting will be on March 20th at 7pm at McFadden's (52 Pine St in downtown Providence). Since I am in a play at Second Story Theatre and have rehearsal that night, I will be unable to attend but will find a replacement to be there alongside Chach.
Please bring monologues, scenes, audition material, etc and I'll be missing you all that night!
