Rhode Island International Film Festival
The films screened will represent an array of genres reflecting RIIFF's unique status as the lone film festival in New England that is a qualifying event for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' "Oscar". There are more than seven thousand film festivals worldwide; and only seventy-five have been granted this prestigious distinction. | Tue Aug 7: Opening Night
7:00pm at RIIFF 2012 Opening Night Celebration will include the presentations of the RIIFF Screenplay Competition Award to Carla Maria Verdino-Süllwold and the Roger Williams Independent Voice Award to Barbara Meek. The festivities continue with a salute to "The Road to the Oscars®" - a program featuring many of RIIFF's finest entries. The evening of international shorts will be followed by a post screening party. |
Wed Aug 8: RIFC Night
6:30pm at Veterans Memorial Auditorium

Aug 11: The Perfect Day for a Picnic
"Howard, a factory worker, returns home each evening to find his bedridden wife slowly changing." "The Perfect Day for a Picnic" is an official RIFC production written and directed by Bob Lucas. You can see some 'Behind the Scenes' footage of this satirical comedy (with a hint of Kafka) right here. Afterward, be sure to swing by the Bell St. Chapel for an evening of locally produced shorts.
