RIFC Production: "Misconceptions"

The 7th RIFC Production Committee is happy to announce that "Misconceptions", written by Nicholas Iandolo has been selected as the next official RIFC production.

"Misconceptions" was selected out of scripts submitted to productions@rifcfilms.com. The project will be given a $500 stipend from the RIFC and begin production this summer.

"Who's directing it", you ask? Why, that would be Evan Hatten whom loyal readers may remember as the editor on RIFC Production #6: "The Chair" (written by James Ferguson and directed by Guy Benoit).

We are now accepting applications for:

Director of Photography

Editor

Production Designer

Production Manager

To apply, send a letter of interest to productions@rifcfilms.com and please list the position for which you are applying in the subject line. Links, bios, persuasive arguments, and/or shameless flattery would be advisable ways of making your case.

Your current RIFC Production Committee:

Allison Barbera (Makeup Artist)

Guy Benoit (Writer/Director)

Nic Carcieri (Director)

Dana Goodman (Producer/Director)

Mark Greene (Writer of emails)

Mike Lacombe (Writer/Director)

Michele Metivier Jacobs (Production)

Michelle Parenteau (Production Design)

Jami Tennille (Actor)

Joseph Votta (Director/D.P.)

Future RIFC Productions

If you are interested in submitting a script for the next RIFC Production then you are extremely encouraged to do so. We want to be overwhelmed by submissions, so get typing. Details will be announced following picture wrap of "Misconceptions" and you didn't hear it from me, but rumor has it that setting your script in an elevator may just be in keeping with an upcoming theme. Keep in mind your work   should be roughly five pages in length.

"Hey, wait a minute.  How do I get to select scripts, choose directors, hire DPs? That sounds interesting!" If you would like to be on the next RIFC production committee, please send your plea to productions@rifcfilms.com

Temporary Changes at RIFC

Let's have a show of support for Michelle Place-Gleason as she brings her talents to the world of political campaign management. Michelle will be taking a summer hiatus from her duties as Executive Director of the RIFC and Producer of the Providence 48 Hour Film Project but will return following the election season.

Luckily, the RIFC still has a deep reservoir of Michelles from which to dwell.  Michele Metivier Jacobs will be handling some time-sensitive administrative matters as well as helping to keep the space and theater accessible, and Michelle Le Brun has joined the list of volunteers for the 48.  (Shoot an email to
Providence@48hourfilm.com to join her.)

Meanwhile, Summer Interns Andrew Migliori (RISD) will be helping primarily with post-production, and Cali Zimmerman (Connecticut College) is helping with productions.

"Murder University" Premiere

Scorpio Film Releasing, creators of "The Disco Exorcist", announce the world premiere for their feature film "Murder University".

CinemaWorld
August 5th 7pm & 9pm
Tickets - $10 (advance tickets available)

"Murder University" delivers suspense, thrills, and a bloody good time in the spirit of the 80's slasher genre. A series of brutal, cult-like murders are taking place at a New England college. Josh Greene (Jamie Dufault), a shy freshman, is the lone survivor of a series of murders that are reminiscent of a similar string of killings some twenty years prior. As he seeks to uncover the secret behind the attacks, he is joined by Detective Forrester (Michael Thurber), who was instrumental in halting the bloodshed before, and his daughter Meg (Sammi Acampora), who had barely escaped being a victim previously.
The film is directed by Richard Griffin ("Nun of That"), written by Lenny Schwartz and produced by Ted Marr ("Atomic Brain Invasion") and Kristin Kayala ("The Disco Exorcist").

As you may have surmised, the film is probably not appropriate for those under the age of seventeen.
