SWAN Day RI International Holiday Event

From The Artsits' Exchange:

"SWAN Day RI International Holiday Event at the Artists' Exchange - celebrating Music, Art, and Fearless Femmes in Film.

SWAN (Support Women Artists Now) Day is a new international holiday celebrating women artists. This new event will take place annually on the last Saturday in March, designated by Congress as Women’s History Month. The first SWAN Day will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2008.

SWAN Day RI, a day-long festival featuring women from a wide variety of disciplines, will be held at the Artists’ Exchange in Cranston, RI. Artisans will showcase their work in booths, while performing artists will be heard and seen throughout the day.

This grass-roots festival is being spearheaded by Toni Pennacchia of MergingArts Productions and Anne’s Cordial, a Providence-based band, whose members are Erin Reed Ferenbaugh, Eva Kendrick, and Natalie Markward. After searching for a venue for the event, the organizers teamed up with the Artists’ Exchange in Cranston, a non-profit arts collaborative that offers classes and events for adults and children in a variety of disciplines.

Flmmakers, musicians, artists of all persuasions will include performers from near and far, both familiar and new at the First Annual SWAN Day on March 29th at the Artists' Exchange.

There will be two blocks of time for a children’s hour downstairs, where parents may accompany their children or leave them with Princess Miss Michelle (Michelle Rossner), a teacher with Play and Learn, who has an interactive program with music, games, and puppet shows for children aged 2 and up.

A raffle will include complimentary tickets to the Sandra Feinstein-Gamm Theatre and the Providence Roller Derby, a gift basket from Coastal Roasters, handmade books by Deb Dormody of If’n Books, a gift certificate courtesy of Sue at Thai Orchard in Cranston, RI, and a packet of CDs contributed by SWAN Day musicians.

For more information about SWAN Day RI, and a full detail of all artists to be present, please contact Project Coordinator Eva Kendrick at 774-526-5093 (swandayri@gmail.com) or Toni Pennacchia at 401-359-2576 (mergingarts@cox.net).

The Artists’ Exchange is located on 50 Rolfe Square, Cranston, RI 02910. Directions are available at http://www.artists-exchange.org.
