Artists' Exchange Announces March Gallery Opening

Cranston, RI – The Artists' Exchange announces its March Gallery Opening, a display of works by Russian American painter Tatyana Eliseeva. The opening will take place Sunday, March 9, 2008 from 4-6 pm at The Artists' Exchange on 50 Rolfe Square in Cranston.

Fascinated by the Renaissance painters, Eliseeva endeavors to emulate Rembrandt's technique of applying multiple layers of paint to the canvas, resulting in a richness of color and depth. Her paintings provide a nostalgic glimpse of the Renaissance with its sumptuous costumes and colorful pageantry. Eliseeva is fascinated by the ambivalent character of the jester and often incorporates masks into her paintings to evoke philosophical expression.

Commenting on her body of work, Eliseeva says, "I realize there is a process of creation going on in my soul. As I paint, I gain more understanding of that dynamic process. Each canvas becomes the materialization of the relationship between me and the outside world. My paintings are in effect love pictures, songs of praise for the innocence of youth, the glory of women and the mystery of nature."

Eliseeva's paintings will be on display at the Artists' Exchange through the month of March. The Artists' Exchange is located at 50 Rolfe Square in Cranston, RI.
