Center for Independent Documentary
Finding Lovecraft

A grant has been awarded to support script development for a feature-length film "mockumentary" by RI filmmaker Cat Hainfeld on RI horror storywriter Howard Phillips Lovecraft. Lovecraft's life in Providence, his extensive letters at the John Hay Library, and his place in the literary canon will all be explored in Hainfeld's treatment of her subject.

Providence Children's Film Festival
A grant has been awarded to support expanded programming for the second year of the Providence Children's Film Festival. The volunteer-led endeavor plans to leverage community relationships to increase the festival to a full week; partner with RISD's education department to hold free events; and offer scholarships to students involved in CityArts in South Providence.

Seedworks Fund
Deer Prudence

A grant has been awarded to support script development for a 58-minute documentary by filmmaker Tijana Petrovic set on Block Island, RI, which follows the process and the effects of the community's decision to eliminate the island's deer herd due to their decade long struggle with Lyme disease. Research for the film will be centered around the island community and its history, including issues surrounding Lyme disease such as hunting, land conservation, and animal management.
