Grant-Funded Filmmaking-Create a Funded Short and Learn the Basics of Video Production

The first run of our grant-funded filmmaking class was a tremendous success, so RIDOT is sponsoring students who would like to sign up for the second run. The class size is limited and first come, first served - the first class was over booked, so sign up soon.

With the RIDOT sponsorship, this class is fully reimbursed! The next session starts May 24th!

Also, some specialty approaches to screenwriting!

Instructors: Richard Griffin and Ted Marr

When you're looking to fund your filmmaking, don't forget about grants. Many public and non-profit initiatives exist to further a cause or champion a message. In this course, ten students will fulfill an existing grant to create a short film of their own design, from start to finish, with an experienced instructor to guide the way.

Our current mission is fully funded by a grant from the RI Department of Transportation. Each class will create one in a series of short films that aim to decrease drunk driving in 18-35 year old males. For each of several sessions, this grant provides full tuition reimbursement to ten students who complete the course, plus a production budget and a screening at the 2011 SENE Film Festival and a special screening event in September.

Students will also be featured in a co-documentary highlighting the mission-oriented impact of their filmmaking experience, which will be presented alongside the student shorts.

Each student will receive a dvd copy of the finished product and a certificate of completion.

Schedule:
Classes will meet on Monday and Thursday, May 24th through June 21st. There will also be a shooting weekend on Saturday, June 12th and Sunday, June 13th.

Locations will be in or near Providence, RI. Classes will be from 7pm to 10pm, except for the shoot, which is TBD.

Classes are limited to 10 students and are first-come first-served, so sign up early!
