THE FILM COMMUNITY™ DEBUTS PARTNERSHIP WITH KAY STUDIOS

Local Movie Studio To Host Film Education Programs For Adults and Children

NEWPORT, RI — The Film Community™, the producers of Kid Filmmakers and Master Filmmakers educational programs, announces its new partnership with Kay Studios of Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

"Kay Studios is the only full-service motion picture company in Rhode Island so we are particularly excited about this collaboration," says The Film Community’s founder and Executive Director Eleyne Austen Sharp. “Learning and producing films in a real movie studio with plenty of space and a giant green screen will be great incentive for our students.”

Co-owned by Marcus Thomas and Greg Gormley, Kay Studios offers two state-of-the-art facilities in Rhode Island and one in Massachusetts. With more than 60,000 square feet of space, Stage Six is centrally located between Newport and Providence.

According to Sharp, the Master Filmmakers series of film industry programs for adults will debut at Kay Studios’ East Providence location in February 2008. Facilitated by New England screenwriter Krista Weller Burns, “The Writing’s On The Wall” is an intensive 2-day screenwriting seminar for adults who wish to learn screenwriting basics, as well as those who have some writing experience and want to learn more about the business of being a working writer.

“Kid Filmmakers has been committed to producing quality filmmaking programs for children since 2001,” says Sharp. “As a year-round traveling filmmaking academy, we have presented a myriad of summer camps and workshops in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Hampshire. Master Filmmakers has been developed in response to enthusiasm from parents and industry professionals alike--a way that busy adults and students can access professional level programs for a reasonable investment.” Faculty members for both Kid Filmmakers and Master Filmmakers are experienced film industry professionals.

Greg Gormley and Marcus Thomas, managing partners of Kay Studios are excited about this new partnership. “Our goal for Kay Studios is to bring professional, cost-effective moviemaking to Rhode Island--these programs will help to inspire and support talent right here in the Ocean State.”
