2008 48hr films to screen Wed & Thur July 23, 24

At the Columbus Theater on Broadway in downtown Providence, RI. Screenings are: Group A at 6:45pm, Group B at 9pm on July 23; Group C at 6:45pm, Group D at 9pm on July 24.

The Judges – and audiences – will select among these films to assemble a slate for the “Best of Providence” celebration. That awards screening will take place on Sunday, August 10th, at 7pm. Live music, awards, an after-party and a screening of the top films will all serve as the closing event of the prestigious 2008 Rhode Island International Film Festival.

Volunteer judges have come together to help select the strongest films from this year’s 48 Hour Film Project. The judges include David Bettencourt, Carol Conley, Scott Levine, Rich Lupo, Abra Moore, Anne Mulhall, Don Soucy and Jim Vickers.

One film will also be selected to represent Providence in the international competition that all 48 Hour Film Project cities partake in.

Sponsors of the Rhode Island Film Collaborative include Have Advice Will Travel, Judge Technical Services, Ameriprise Financial Advisors, Newbury Comics, Envision Technology Advisors, The Wild Colonial, and Artini's.

Also, RIFC is indebted to its in-kind sponsors: the Hilton Garden Inn Providence Airport/Warwick, Motif Magazine, Trinity Brewhouse, Cox Cable, Two Sisters' Productions, Enterprise Car Rentals, The Artists' Exchange, The Rhode Island International Film Festival, and the Columbus Theatre.
