"Acting for the Camera" by the Newport Film Salon

The NEWPORT FILM SALON is pleased to offer the following:

Acting for the Camera: An interactive workshop for actors of all backgrounds and experience.

With local filmmaking steadily on the rise, Rhode Island is flush with acting opportunities. Are you ready? Come and join us for an interactive workshop: Acting for the Camera.

You may know that there is a difference in technique between acting for the stage, film and television. But what are they? Is the direction different? What if you are not given direction? How is a taped audition different from a live audition? What can you do to be prepared when your big chance comes?

These questions and more will be answered by Mary DeBerry (of the Rhode Island Film Collaborative). Mary has been a producer for PBS television, an independent filmmaker and a director of community theater. She is currently a producer, writer and Communication Officer for the RI Film Collaborative.

NFS will provide a camera/tripod and Mary will provide the “sides” for us to work with. Come and learn a new skill or polish what you already know!
