The 48HFP Newsletter

Filmapalooza at NAB! All 48HFP Filmmakers are Invited!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The 5th Annual Filmapalooza-the finale festival for the 48 Hour Film Project is going to NAB Show in Las Vegas on April 10-12th, 2010. Here we will screen the best 48HFP films from 2009, announce the winners at our awards ceremony, and of course, party with fellow filmmakers.
This year all 48HFP filmmakers are invited to attend. The NAB Show is the world's largest electronic media show covering filmed entertainment and the development, management and delivery of content. Thanks to a special deal with NAB, tickets to Filmapalooza are only $25, which includes attendance at all 48 Hour Film Screenings, and entry to the NAB show floor. For more information, go to www.filmapalooza.org.
48HFP International Shootout: The World Ends
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On the weekend of Dec. 4-7, 55 top 48HFP teams from around the world competed in the 48HFP International Shootout.

Their theme was the "End of the World". How the world ends was up to the filmmakers - natural disaster, disease, robot invasions, mass insanity or whatever other dire outcome the teams could dream up. As this was a special 48HFP event, filmmakers were not assigned genres, characters, props or lines, but were asked to include a local landmark. The winner will be announced at Filmapalooza at NAB.

New 48HFP Theme Song Contest Winner Announced!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
During November we held a theme song contest, and were greeted by many great songs, from country ballads to raps to techno music. After careful consideration, the winner has been chosen! Patrick Tyrrell of L.A. won for his song "I Had a Cooler Weekend than You" [listen now]. For his effort, Patrick wins $1,000! According to Patrick, "The song is meant to convey that time spent pursuing your creative talents, even to a grueling degree, is infinitely more fulfilling than time spent any other way."
Patrick writes songs for films, so if you need some good music, check out his website at www.thatpatrick.com to hear more of his work.
