Job Description:Purpose:Under general direction, directly manages the front of house operations and customer service for the theater during performances/events.
Primary Responsibilities:• Manages and directs operations of the house before, during and after all performances taking place in the Lederer Theater Center and Pell Chafee Performance Center (Wed – Sun). Inspects front of house prior to performance Conducts pre-show orientation for volunteer ushers prior to performance. Oversees nightly concessions including cash reconciliation Troubleshoots audience seating issues Oversees directing flow of audience to their seats pre-curtain and post-intermission Holds late-comers until appropriate time to seat the patrons Responsible for safely evacuating the building in an emergency situation and may be called upon to perform CPR and first aid to patrons, staff and volunteers Create post-show house report for distribution to theater managers Stand-in for Talk Back Leader, if needed.• Oversee the recruitment and training of the volunteer usher corps. Supervise scheduling for over 300 volunteer ushers throughout the season with attention to proper coverage of shifts for each performance.• Hiring, training and supervision of concessions staff. Includes writing training manual and conducting period training sessions. Also requires regular monitoring of service and appropriate follow up to ensure high standard of service for Trinity Rep's customers. • Monitor customer feedback about front of house operations and concessions on a regular basis to make recommendations for improvements - including product mix, line queues, furniture layout, lobby atmosphere, staff service, etc.• Assist Box Office staff with customer service as needed.• Responsible for writing and submitting an emergency evacuation plan for each production in coordination with Stage Management prior to each production run.
Experience / Education:This position requires prior customer service experience, college degree preferred. Skills / Knowledge:This position requires strong problem solving skills including the ability to multi-task, stay cool under pressure, think and react quickly and to work well independently and with others. The person must have skills in customer service, cash management and supervision of others. CPR, TIPS and Crowd Control certifications preferred.
Special RequirementsMust be able to work a flexible schedule around performance schedule, including nights and weekends.
