Hello New England Filmmakers,

Last night at the Columbus Theater in Providence there was a town hall type meeting conducted by RI Film Commisioner Steven Feinberg. It was basically a number of presenters, about 20, talking about their function in the RI film community.

The entire crowd of about 200 people, give or take, were supportive of raising the cap on the RI tax incentives, which is currently frozen at $15,000,000 per year for the total of all productions, not per individual production. So that will cover a lot of $300,000 plus productions, but one big budget Hollywood style production would eat up all the credits for an entire year. Shame on the RI legislators.

Although the message I forwarded previously said it was a production of the RI Film Collaborative it was actually sponsored by the RI Production Coaltion. I suggest you google both to get on their email lists.
