FILMDANCE SHOWS OFF ALL THE RIGHT MOVES

New Film Festival Seminar Set for January 17.

NEWPORT, RI -- In our YouTube society, it would appear that everyone is a
filmmaker. But if you are a serious filmmaker looking for your big break, film
festivals are still the way to go and have stricter guidelines. So how does a
serious filmmaker know if their work is truly ready for the festival circuit?

"Most emerging filmmakers are so absorbed by the creative process and getting their films finished," says Eleyne Austen Sharp, executive director of Master Filmmakers. "They don't spend much time considering how to prepare their film for a debut on the festival circuit." FilmDance is the new film festival
seminar presented by Master Filmmakers, which was established to help filmmakers develop a strategy for getting their film prepared to enter the film festival arena.

According to Sharp, there are at least several hundred film festivals offered in
the United States alone, and most require entry fees, which can get quite
expensive for the filmmaker on a tight budget. "FilmDance is a unique
opportunity to learn from the experts exactly which festivals to include on your
'dance' card and which ones to ignore."

FilmDance will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Kay Studios, 66 Valley Street in East Providence, from 10AM-4PM. The full day seminar will feature four moderated panel discussions to address Marketing, Fundraising, Networking and Submission issues. Panelists will include filmmakers, film festival winners and organizers.

Master Filmmakers is a division of The Film Community, the producers of Kid
Filmmakers educational programs. In addition to FilmDance, Master Filmmakers hosts a variety of seminars geared to filmmaking professionals and those looking to "break into" the film industry. In addition to FilmDance, The Film Community will be offering additional programming throughout 2009 in connection with Kay Studios.

The cost of the full-day FilmDance program is $65.00. Early bird registration
is $45.00 if registration is received before December 1, 2008. To register for
FilmDance, call 401-294-4922 or visit The Film Community's website at
www.thefilmcommunity.org.
