Rhode Island Invites the World - "Make Your Movies Here"

(Providence, Rhode Island, USA)

"Make your movies here in Rhode Island and we will welcome you to our neighborhood!" declares Steve Feinberg, Director of the Rhode Island Film and Television Office in a recent statement. His message comes on the eve of what is expected to be the biggest Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF) ever. According to RIIFF Programming Director Don Farias, the festival rejected over 1000 submissions even after opening more locations for public screening this year.

The "Rhode Island Film Forum," is also being held for two days during the festival to cover the nuts and bolts of filmmaking while promoting the benefits of filming in Rhode Island. Steve Feinberg is scheduled to make at least two appearances during this two day forum which features a talented group of professionals and an opportunity to network with others. RIIFF Executive Director/CEO George T. Marshall expects national and international interest in this year's forum and has issued a press release expected to be sent internationally in six different languages. "Now is the time to get involved," Marshall announced in his release. "The film industry here is growing in leaps and bounds, and while some states have cities that are imposing stricter rules on filmmaking, Rhode Island is growing more filmmaker friendly."

"If you ever thought about getting involved in the multi-million dollar film industry here, or the benefits of using your town or business as a location for filming you should probably attend this symposium," wrote Marshall. The Forum is open to those interested in any aspect of filmmaking, and attendees expected include aspiring Filmmakers, artists, Film Production Crews, Film Students, Artistic Directors, Film Vendors, Civic Organizations, Historic and Preservation Groups, Property Managers, Recreation Managers, Hotel Managers, Rental Agencies and representatives of various Rhode Island Cities & Towns.

The Rhode Island International Film Festival is being held August 7th through 12th. The Rhode Island Film Forum is held for two mornings, August 8th & 9th at the URI Feinstein Campus, 80 Washington Street in downtown Providence. A keynote luncheon will also be held during this event at 12:30 on August 9th at the Providence Biltmore Hotel Ballroom.
