Emerson Professor Weinstein has produced and directed numerous films, live television specials, and musical events in LA and New York. His course leverages this experience and guest speakers to give students insight into how and why to make filming decisions, from pre-production through post-production. Classic and recent films will be analyzed, and the techniques used in shooting, post production, and sometimes pre-production will be discussed, The phases of filmmaking, and the many roles and their responsibilities will be explored in-depth, from best boy to DP. This is a classroom-based class, although many examples will be used, there is no hands-on production time.
