Artists' Exchange Announces September Gallery Opening

Cranston, RI – The Artists' Exchange announces its September Gallery Opening, a display of works by Karl Doerflinger. The opening will take place Sunday, September 23, 2007 from 4-6 pm at the Artists' Exchange on 50 Rolfe Street in Cranston.

Karl Doerflinger, of East Providence, was born in Ohio and raised in Ohio and Tennessee in the 1950's. A graduate of the Cleveland Institute Of Art, Doerflinger has taught painting for over ten years and has had several showings in the Midwest, South and East Coast. Doerflinger is fascinated by amusement parks; carousels in particular often find their way into his paintings. His art captures the small town nostalgia of his childhood, the very same nostalgia that brought him here to Rhode Island, which he now calls home. Karl is a member of the Providence Art Club and shares a studio and has a close association with Maxwell Mays.

"We are thrilled to have Karl's work here." says Celia Zanger, Windmill Studios owner and artist liaison. " Even though his images are so well-known and adorn many thousands of walls here in Rhode Island, it is rare to see him displaying his work in a show. Like Santa, he steals into our galleries and frame shops and leaves his magic for us to buy and love, but so rarely comes out for his fans to meet him and thank him."

Doerflingler has been busy painting some new work that he will be displaying. He
will be bringing out some never before shown work as well as some well loved images to share at this show. His paintings will be on display through the month of October.

For additional information please contact Christina Mealey at 401.490.9475 or Celia Zanger at 401.461.3911.

This is a non RIFC Production.
